SoHo is easily one of the best places to live in New York City. It is an expansive area in downtown Manhattan, running from Houston Street to Canal Street and from Lafayette Street to West Street (the Hudson River). It is known for its stylish boutiques, café culture and artistic bent. The combination of notable restaurants, enjoyable bars and shopping destinations, makes it a great place to live. In addition, its proximity to the Village, Tribeca, NoLita, Little Italy and Chinatown, provides opportunities to experience more of what the city has to offer. The residents of this great neighborhood vary from a younger crowd to a more well-to-do older group, as real estate prices can go from more affordable to some of the highest in the city. When deciding where to live, most prospective buyers and renters have their choice of tiny walk-ups along the quieter streets to grand elevator lofts for the higher-end clientele, with very limited high rises to consider. SoHo is one of the best places to go shopping in all of Manhattan. Take a stroll down West Broadway, Spring Street or any side streets and you’re bound to find a store with what you’re looking for. Many of these options can be a bit upscale, but in nice weather, there are always flea markets and street vendors selling their arts, crafts and jewelry for reasonable prices.
