Overview
The Upper East Side appeals to a wide range of residents and can make a nice home for any demographic. The Upper East Side runs from East 59th Street up to East 96th Street and from 5th Avenue (Central Park) to the East River. It is filled with people of all ages, singles, families and too many pets to count. On nice days, you can see kids playing in the local parks, people shopping on Madison Avenue and others relaxing on their terraces or back patios. This neighborhood provides numerous types of living options from charming, old-style townhouses to luxury doorman high-rise buildings. For culture, Museum Mile offers locals many chances to check out some of the best museums in the city, all along one avenue, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim and the Cooper Hewitt. One of the best aspects of the Upper East Side is its proximity to major parks, including Central Park and Carl Shurz Park, which is set along the East River. Central Park is well-known for its expansive greenery, endless activities, ponds, tennis courts, baseball fields, ice skating rink, a Zoo and so much more. For those that live further east, Carl Shurz is a great option, providing opportunities for various activities, including a spectacular esplanade with unparalleled views, a quaint dog park, basketball courts, regularly organized events and dedicated grassy areas for laying out or having a picnic.
