How and when can I get a copy of the signed lease for my new rental apartment?
Generally, you should receive an original copy of your fully executed lease during the first 1-2 weeks after move-in through the mail or from your super or doorman. If you do not receive your lease within 1-2 weeks after you move in, you should contact your landlord directly to follow up, and request that it be sent to you, along with an expected date of receipt.
Once you receive your lease, you should scan it and hold an electronic copy for your records as well as storing the original in a safe place.
