When should I start compiling my application paperwork during my search for a rental apartment?

As soon as possible!  The rental market in NYC is ultra-competitive.  Demand considerably outweighs supply and that means prospective renters must be on top of their game and pounce on whatever looks good.  With that being said, the most important first step when starting your search for a new apartment rental is getting all of your paperwork together (including your guarantor’s paperwork, if applicable).

We’ve seen too many times where clients wait until the next morning to hand in an application and paperwork and there is already 1-2 other applications ahead of them with higher priority.

Therefore, if you are starting your search or are currently in the midst of it and do not have all of your paperwork ready, make it your number one priority!
