Who should attend a lease signing?

ALL individuals whose names will be included on the lease should attend the lease signing, with one exception.  This may involve all tenants, including roommates, couples and various family members over the age of 18.  The one exception are out of state guarantors (if applicable) who are unable to attend and instead can sign the lease and/or necessary guarantor rider and overnight it back to the landlord or exclusive agent.

However, if you would like only one or certain tenants to be named on the lease, you should discuss it with the management company / landlord before the leases are drawn up to ensure you comply with their guidelines.  For example, if you are a couple and one of you is financially responsible for the apartment, that individual could potentially be the only one named on the lease, if desired.
