Greenwich Village offers some of the nicest options for where to live in New York City. The neighborhood occupies the middle section of upper downtown Manhattan, from Houston Street to 14th Street and from Broadway to 6th Avenue. It includes a nice cross section of students, young adults, families and older residents, with a multitude of restaurants, nightlife and things to do. The majority of top real estate options can be found north of Washington Square Park, where there are numerous co-op doorman buildings and picturesque townhouses. Greenwich Village’s food and nightlife scene is one of the best in the city, catering to people with various-sized wallets. Babbo, Il Mulino and Minetta Tavern are frequently packed with upscale patrons, while Mamoun’s, OTTO, Grey Dog Café and Amorino take care of the more laid-back crowd. Options for drinks extend from dive bars to more classy destinations. There is also a wide selection of entertainment venues, including comedy and jazz clubs and other performance spaces. Washington Square Park separates the northern and southern sections of Greenwich Village and is a favorite for residents and NYU students. The aesthetic value of the Washington Square Arch, especially at night, adds to the allure of this wonderful space. In addition, parents can bring their children to the multiple playgrounds on the northern and southwest portions of the Park, while dog owners can utilize the two dog parks on the south side.
